Not quite a teacup but perhaps just different enough to make it that little bit more interesting. And that’s exactly what the JAR Group have done.
Taken a slightly more transparent object than your standard teacup, and placed a storm of interest in it.
I came across this little gem of a job ad browsing the SEMPO site today and I have to say – how could any self-respecting, job-curious SEM-er NOT want to apply?

So here I am, blogging about it. What else?!
My first proud, I’d like to think I know a fair amount about teacups – being from that proud little tea-obsessed island known as Britain. But that does make me want to know learn a lot more about transparent JARs too. Horizons exist to be broadened!
And I’d also like to think my Britishness makes me a big of connoisseur of storms, well certainly rain at least – we have every ‘wrong’ kind of rain going over this way of the world – it falls too fast, not fast enough, is too wet or not wet enough – but always likes to keep us on our toes.
So without further ado – I can already bring a certain tea and rain knowledge to the arena? Is that not a pretty good jumping off point?!
Actually my jumping off point came a number of years as I wallowed in a not so self-starting career as a frustrated and decidedly claustrophobic French & Spanish translator.
YES, I bring multilingualism into the mix!
I met a person who knew another person who ran a web design & development agency – with a new, rather large international client, a burgeoning SEM team and no multilingualism. A few coffees, a few more beers and a lot of chatter later – and there I was, embarking on my newfound love.
Since then , I’ve championed search marketing and analytics – and all the integration that they can possibly take to friends, family, strangers on a bus and clients alike… and feel pretty confident of my success because I know my belief in what I say can’t be faked. Even my mother gets quite excited about graphs and tagging these days!
With the sudden departure of my boss & guru to farflung lands… I was thrown a gauntlet and left to sink or swim. I built up a team of search marketing lovers from birth to setting them free to walk their own path in the world – and have watched them carve their own success too.
I’ve acted as a sunglasses promoter, graduate joinee agony aunt, luxury travel guru and retro sweets evangelist – and my knowledge of weird and wonderful areas of the web grows in leaps and bounds with each and every new initiative. And I do love it.
How to big yourself up without bigging yourself up in the wrong way and try to capture the essence of you?
Now there’s a blog post title for you. Or maybe a challenge, answer than in 140 chars or less! I’ll come back to that one over the next few weeks I think.
I am a search marketing lover (not a fighter) but I’d like to think I’m a lot more than that…. and that’s what gives me my imagination and my inspiration!
I’m an evangelist of what I believe in, a definite part of the bicycle gang, a music obsesser, a terrible dj (but a crowd pleaser!), a rice lover and a marmite hater, an open geek with a penchant for comic books heroes and a fashion follower at heart. I go mad for Japanese Kitsch but like to get down to some serious life debating over a beer and a controversial topic.
I could end up talking about myself all day! But this post is long enough to get some thoughts stirring (in a jar or teacup) and I don’t want to give too much away today!
And just because…. it’s a storm, it’s a jar – it’s a stormtrooper cookie jar!
